The exhibition in between brings together and presents current works by 11 Armenian artists. Personal views, individual perspectives, dreams, nightmares and positions become visible and perceptible, which were created against the background of current and ever new catastrophes - whether in Armenia or elsewhere in the world.
The exhibiting artists know each other from the art scene of the Armenian capital Yerevan, are friends and representatives of different generations. Most of them share a common living and working space for years and often participate in various projects together or initiate them themselves. Likewise, the curator Eva Khachatryan and the artist Katharina Maderthaner, who conceived and organised this exhibition, are good friends and have been exchanging ideas between Yerevan and Düsseldorf regularly since 2016.
The exhibition does not have a strict prefabricated concept, but shows what is currently happening and the context that immediately results from it. Therefore, all the works shown are new. They were developed for the occasion of this exhibition and they respond on a micro and macro level to a wide variety of very personal and political problems and issues. The artists are working to articulate and overcome their traumas.
One thing is certain: it is impossible to lose the motivation of the desire to live, which is combined with the ability to dream incessantly and the desire to find new common spaces, to form new commoning.
