An exhibition by Matthias Neuenhofer with interventions by Tobias Grewenig, Volker Hennes, Susanna Schoenberg and Gabriele Seifert and a concert by Nicola Hein, Matthias Muche, Luis Negrón van Grieken, Matthias Neuenhofer and Christian Reiner.

The exhibition Auflösung by Matthias Neuenhofer opens on Thursday 25 April 2019: rampant growth, variations on the similar, connections and interactions of the parts are approaches for an artistic concept which Matthias Neuenhofer will release for interventions and improvisations from 5 May 2019. Tobias Grewenig, Volker Hennes, Susanna Schoenberg - who, like Matthias Neuenhofer, contribute to the collective Frequenzwechsel - will implement the first interventions, which will be presented to the audience on 18 May 2019.

On Thursday 23 May 2019 the audio-visual concert Klangsondagen für Thomas Kling will take place in the exhibition, with the participation of Nicola Hein, Matthias Muche, Luis Negrón van Grieken, Matthias Neuenhofer and Christian Reiner.

”Matthias Neuenhofer has been researching the aesthetic potential of feedback loops through video for many years. In the tradition of abstract video art he uses feedback processes to explore the fundamentals and conditions of the technical image. His early works forego the camera and concentrate on pure abstraction, in the sense of a self-reflection of the medium. Neuenhofer's method has changed and broadened substantially. Meanwhile, he has come to incorporate alienated camera shots, to which he applies different algorythms, allowing complex generative compositions to emerge.“

Interventions by Tobias Grewenig, Volker Hennes and Susanna Schoenberg

Matthias Neuenhofer reveals his exhibition Auflösung for Interventions and improvisations: Tobias Grewenig, Volker Hennes and Susanna Schoenberg work – just as Neuenhofer himself does – within the collective Frequenzwechsel and will implement the first interventions on 05.05., to then be presented to the audience on Sat. 18.05. at 7 pm.

Klangsondagen für Thomas Kling

by Matthias Muche, Nicola L. Hein feat. Christian Reiner, Luis Negrón van Grieken and Matthias Neuenhofer

The work of author Thomas Kling has left significant traces on German literature and has set new standards in many areas. In his texts, Kling often emphasises the tonal dimensions of speech through the omission of vowels, the use of different dialects, the accumulation of sound chains and a particular type of speech or lecture, without eliminating the semanticity of speech. Through this focus he has also found ground-breaking answers to questions concerning the communication of music and text and the musicality of poetic speech.

Together, the Trombone – guitar duo Matthias Muche / Nicola L. Hein and Vienna based voice artist and speaker Christian Reiner, as well as video artists Luis Negrón van Grieken and Matthias Neuenhofer will interpret and perform the texts of Thomas Kling.

Concieved based on the term “Speech-installation” the artists have taken texts from Thomas Klings writings, processed them visually/digitally, musically and vocally, developing musical/spacial compisitions. The focal point of these works is the intimate interlocking of text, music, speech and image, hereby opening up completely new perspectives, not only on Klings works, but on the communication of music, images and speech.
